Paris to Reims and the Champagne country
Reims is 144 km east of Paris on the A4 and the drive takes about an hour and three quarters. It is an easy road — motorway almost the whole way, with the countryside opening out into vines somewhere after Château-Thierry.
If all you want is to be in Reims, take the train: the TGV from Gare de l'Est does it in around 46 minutes and nothing on the road will ever beat that. We say so plainly because the people who book this car are not trying to beat it. They are going to a house in the vines — Hautvillers, Aÿ, the Côte des Blancs, Épernay and the Avenue de Champagne — and those are forty minutes past Reims station by a taxi you would then have to find again. Or they are going to two houses in a day, which no timetable arranges. Or there are four of them with a case each, and they would rather not change at Reims at all.
Your driver collects you in Paris at the time you set and stays with you for the trip, which also means nobody in your party has to do the driving or decline the tasting. Tell us the houses when you book and he will plan the order; if you want to add a second stop on the day, ask him.
Reims and Champagne questions
The TGV is faster. Why book a car to Reims?
It is faster — around 46 minutes from Gare de l'Est, and we say so on the page. The car is not competing with it. It is for the houses outside Reims that the train does not reach, for visiting two in one day, and for arriving with luggage you would otherwise be moving twice.
Can the driver take us to champagne houses outside Reims?
Yes — Hautvillers, Aÿ, Épernay and the Côte des Blancs villages are all within half an hour of the city. Tell us which houses when you book so the order makes sense on the map; you do the tastings, the driver does the driving.
Does the driver wait while we visit?
For a day in Champagne, yes — that is hourly hire rather than a one-way transfer, and the car and driver stay with you. If you only need to get to Reims and back on separate days, two one-way transfers are cheaper. Tell us which you want and we will quote the one that fits.
How long is the drive from Paris to Reims?
144 km and about an hour and three quarters, almost all of it motorway on the A4. From CDG it is slightly shorter, because the airport is already east of the city.
Can you drive to Reims from the airport instead of Paris?
Yes, from Charles de Gaulle, Orly or Beauvais, with the driver meeting your flight in the terminal as he would for any transfer. CDG is the closest of the three. Pick the airport as your pickup point and the price updates before you book.
Can I book a transfer to the airport?
Yes. A transfer runs in either direction — pick the airport as your destination instead of your pickup point and the price is the same fixed fare.
What pickup time should I choose if I am flying out?
Plan your pickup at least 3 hours before your flight departs. For Beauvais, make it 4 hours — it is the furthest of the three airports from Paris.
Do I pay extra if my flight is delayed and the driver has to wait?
No. We track your flight and the driver arrives when you actually land. Waiting is free for the first 120 minutes after landing, and a delay never changes the fare.
Can I book without a credit card?
Yes. Choose to pay the driver in cash at the last step of the booking and nothing is charged online. You pay at the end of the trip.
